SHOP CARPENTER

YOU BELIEVE SAFETY IS KEY TO GOOD WORK.  You can lift 50 pounds and have demonstrated that you can safely install materials with carpentry and power tools in a noisy, sawdust filled work space. You love to integrate into a busy team of skilled carpenters and warehouse staff, working under pressure, and adapting to changing priorities.

ATTENTION TO DETAIL, QUALITY AND FOLLOW THROUGH MATTERS TO YOU. You have the ability to read precise specifications, measure materials accurately, and apply math skills to cut and pack finish carpentry materials. Ability to build frames, mantles, and shutters. Quality in the end-product is your top priority.

 

ESSENTIAL job functions may include:

§  Ability to measure, cut, drill, nail and assemble materials to job specifications and safety best practices

§  Work independently or on a team to efficiently construct frames while following appropriate safety methods

§  Attend weekly safety meetings, build knowledge and apply safe work methods when operating machinery or lifting and remains accident free

§  Ensure all designated working areas are maintained in an orderly manner and continuously maintained free of trash and debris

·         Train entry level Carpenters and provide constructive criticism and feedback for improvement

·         Refine skills to more advanced pieces and displays efficiency in all work products

EDUCATION, SKILL, EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or GED a plus

Proficient in math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplication and division, calculating square footage of materials

2+ years’ carpentry experience

Able to read blueprints and knowledgeable in construction methods

Able to perform physical carpentry tasks including cutting, building, and packing finish carpentry materials

Able to perform general physical tasks common to carpentry position (lifting items up to 50 pounds, kneeling, bending, standing, climbing, repetitive motion, use of hand tools, etc.)

Possess valid CA Driver’s License, good driving history and dependable transportation

Demonstrated past of working safely and adhering to safety standards

Proven experience working well independently and with teams

Dependable, punctual and can consistently communicate clearly and effectively with coworkers, vendors and customers, with a great “can do” attitude
